COMMUNICATION n. 10 ( next )

THREE EXPERTS IN IMPLANT PROSTHETICS WILL DISCUSS ESTHETICS AND FUNCTION AT THE ITALIAN DENTAL ASSOCIATIONS 10TH INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS IN CHIA, SARDEGNA
Istvan Urban, Gaetano Calesini and Ignazio Loi will each bring a world of experience to the 10th International Congress of the Italian Dental Association that will be held from 13-15 June, 2019 in Chia on the beautiful island of Sardegna in Italy. The three experts will unite their forces on Friday the 14th beginning at 11:30 with Istvan Urban’s keynote lecture. Born and raised between Budapest and Szeged in Hungary, Urban who currently teaches Implantology at the University of Loma Linda in California, collaborates with the University of Michigan and author of a text on vertical and horizontal bone augmentation, will discuss the importance of patient selection in reducing complications in bone grafting procedures. Patient preparation, surgical technique, post operative management and flap closure, fundamental during the phase of new bone growth, will be discussed. The latest research and techniques will also be presented leading to a reduced need for autogenous bone and a reduction in failures. At 2:30 pm the first AIO-AIOP (Italian Association of Prosthetic Dentistry) Symposium will make its debut with AIOP past president Gaetano Calesini from Rome, Italy lecturing on “ The Determinants of Peri-Implant Tissue Anatomy: a Bio-Mimetic Approach”. He’ll discuss the changes that have occurred in implant prosthetics over the past 10 years where the clinicians focus has shifted from undisputed function to the importance of a mimetized result in the partially or totally e edentulous patient. Following the loss of a natural tooth the anatomy of the extraction site undergoes change. Regenerative procedures performed to mimetize these areas help recreate a natural looking restoration. Taking the podium at 3:30 pm will be two natives of the island of Sardegna Ignazio Loi and Mauro Fadda. Loi is creator of the world known Biologically Oriented Preparation Technique (BOPT) that calls for the vertical preparation of the natural abutment that allows for a natural soft tissue adaptation to the prosthetic profile determined by the crown. In prosthetic rehabilitation of the patient the disharmony between the tooth and gingiva, especially in the smile zone, can cause huge esthetic problems. A good clinician must be able to recreate ideal soft tissue morphological characteristics: gingival symmetry, progression of the gingival parabola between central incisors, laterals and canines as well as the correct rapport with the upper lip. BOPT and complimentary extrusions allow the clinician to achieve ideal results for the patient in a short time frame while being minimally invasive. At 5 pm the doors swing open to the dental technicians with the lecture on the technical diagnostic and esthetic approach in simple and complex esthetic rehabilitation presented by Giuseppe Romeo from Torino. The session ends with Zerodonto speakers Fabio Cozzolino from the University Federico II of Naples, Italy and Roberto Sorrentino (University of Naples, Italy) who will discuss the complex rehabilitation in areas of high esthetic impact and the role of digital dentistry in implant and prosthetic surgery: a revision of the multidisciplinary approach.
