The Italian Dental Association, AIO, will be holding its 12th International Congress and 23rd Sardinian Meeting entitled “Focus on the Simplicity of Excellence” from June 8-10, 2023, on the beautiful island of Sardegna in Italy. The congress will be sponsored by the most important global, European and Italian institutions in dentistry.

For the first time the AIO International Congress will host the 2023 Doctors’ World Gala (DWG), a momentous occasion honoring Top Doctors from around the world in the fields of Dentistry, Medicine, Pharmacy, Optometry, Chiropractic and Medical Philosophy, where lifetime achievement awards will be presented to the newly inaugurated 100 Top Doctors added to the 600 Top Doctors from over 120 countries that have already been granted this prestigious honor.
Launching the AIO 2023 International Congress on Thursday morning, June 8th, will be four pre-congress hands-on courses: two in oral surgery, one in Endodontics and one in Digital Dentistry. All will award 10 ADA CERP continuing education credits.
On Thursday afternoon, from 2:30-6:00pm, a special joint Top Doctors-AIO Multidisciplinary Session will be held awarding 8 ADA CERP CE credits to participants. Top Doctors can participate free of charge while the cost of participation for non-Top Doctors is 50 euro. Registration must be done in advance by writing to aiosardegna@aio.it The Top Doctors’-AIO Session will be a prelude to the 2023 Doctors’ World Gala event that will be held the same evening.

On Friday morning, June 9th three sessions will be held: a special session honouring the 50 Years of the Orthognathic School of Cagliari, the Style Italiano Session and the Perio-Prostho Session. Any of these three sessions taken together with the Friday afternoon and Saturday Plenary Sessions or the Friday afternoon Plenary Session combined with the Orthodontic Session will award attendees 20 ADA CERP CE credit hours.
Those not wanting to participate in the sessions can opt for one of 3 hands-on courses: one held by Style Italiano, one in surgery and another in gnathology.
Saturday, June 10th, Congress participants can choose between the half day Plenary or Orthodontic Session.
Two extraordinary dinners will also take during the International Congress: the AIO Congress Gala Dinner, held on Friday evening, June 9th and the Traditional Sardinian Dinner, held on the evening of Saturday, June 10th. Tickets for both dinners will be available for purchase on site. Places are limited!
The AIO Scientific Electronic Poster Competition will take place during the International Congress. Participation requires that E-posters and abstracts must be original, written in English and based on the topics of the congress. Abstracts must be sent to: aiosardegna@aio.it by April 30, 2023. Abstracts will be examined by an AIO Scientific Committee and on May 2, 2023, the Secretariat will communicate the list of selected works. The authors of the selected abstracts will be invited to present the results of their research in a dedicated session on June 8, 2023. It would be unthinkable to hold a congress without dedicating a session to our key team members, our dental hygienists, our dental assistants and our dental laboratory technicians!
On Saturday morning, June 10th, from 9am to 2pm, a special session will be dedicated to our dental hygienists and their unique role in helping to detect sleep respiratory disorders, the treatment of peri-implantitis and patient communication. Dentists are also invited to attend.
Also, on Saturday morning from 8:30 am – 2:00 pm a dedicated Dental Assistant Session will be held focusing on rapport-building to create better patient relationships and on improving patient health in terms of prevention.
Dental Laboratory Technicians instead are invited to participate in the Digital Session on Thursday morning, June 8th, to the Prosto-Perio Session on Friday morning, June 9th and the Plenary Session held on Saturday morning June 10th.
