The Dental Assistant, has a pivotal role in the management of clinical activities and rapport-building with the patient. This role requires the Dental Assistant to acquire important technical, scientific and relational skills.
The Dental Assistant session held from 8:30 am – 2:00 pm on Saturday, June 10, during the 12th International AIO / Italian Dental Association International Congress in Chia Sardegna The session will focus on rapport-building to better manage patient relationships and patient health in terms of prevention.
Maria Gaggiani, pharmacist and professor at the University of Insubria in Varese Italy will start the session by discussing how the Dental Assistant can make the patient’s experience memorable through understanding their needs and incorporating emotional management strategies.
Following a break, Natalie Kawekjy speaker, opinion leader and twice president of the American Dental Assistant Association together with Rossella Abbondanza, National President of the Italian Dental Assistant Association, IDEA, and instructor in numerous Dental Assisting programs, will give a lecture on hospital dental care, planning for care under general anesthesia and the role of the Dental Assistant before, during and after surgery.
Elena Tonini, head of the clinical affairs department for Zhermack Company will conclude the session with a lecture on the terms medical devices, biocides and medical-surgical aids and on the criteria they must have to categorize using this terminology.
