THE MASTERS OF ORTHODONTICS AT THE ITALIAN DENTAL ASSOCIATION INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS JUNE 9-11, 2022
Dentistry is experiencing a true gender shift and is well on the way to becoming a female dominated profession.
The AIO/Italian Dental Association is at the forefront of this change by dedicating its entire 11th International Congress to this topic, “Focus on the Gender Shift in Dentistry: A New Perspective or a Future Challenge?” while being honored to be the first international congress in the world to host both male and female speakers that are represented equally.
The AIO/Italian Dental Association has chosen the Chia Laguna Hotel and Resort, winner of the 2019 World Leading Beach Family Resort at the World Travel Awards, on the beautiful Mediterranean Island of Sardegna, as the venue for the congress.
The congress, held from June 9 – 11, 2022, will be structured as follows:
- Thursday, June 9th: An endodontic pre-congress hands on course (10 ADA CERP credits)
- Friday, June 10th and Saturday, June 11th
The congress will be divided into three distinct sessions with each represented by a colored pathway:
- Red Pathway: Periodontal and Prosthetic Session (23 ADA CERP credits)
- Green Pathway: Conservative Dentistry Session (23 ADA CERP credits)
- Blue Pathway: Pedodontic and Orthodontic Session on which we will focus on below.
The Blue colored pathway in Pedodontics and Orthodontics will start off the congress and provide attendees with the possibility of earning 23 ADA CERP credits.
Beginning on Friday, June 10th at 9:00 am the pedodontic part of the session will feature Maurizio Bossù, Associate Professor at the La Sapienza University in Rome, Italy who will lecture on Odontostomatology in the Evolutionary Age followed by Milena Cadenaro, Director of the Post Graduate Pediatric Dentistry Program at the University of Trieste, Italy who will speak on Hypomineralization of the Molars and Incisors. Luca Giannetti, Professor of Prosthetic Dentistry in the Post Graduate Course in Dental Prosthetics of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, Italy will speak on Enamel Defects and their Resolution and Audrey Camilleri from Malta will treat Trauma and Regenerative Endodontics.
On Saturday, June 11th beginning at 8:30 am the session dedicated to Orthodontics gets off to a start with world-renowned speakers. Renato Cocconi, from Milan, Italy, keynote speaker in major international meetings and conferences in orthodontics, opens the day with his lecture, From Complete Diagnosis to Treatment Planning: A Digital Journey, followed by Tali Chackartchi from Israel and Past President of the Israeli Society of Periodontology and Osseointegration, who will speak on Orthodontic Treatments in the Presence of Periodontal Disease, along with fellow Israeli expert, Rafi Romano, editor of five books published by Quintessence (Lingual Orthodontics, The Art of Smile, The Art of Treatment Planning, Lingual & Esthetic Orthodontics, The Art of Detailing) who will explain Why Aligners are the Best Choice in Perio-Ortho Patients. Following a break Anna Mariniello, from Naples, Italy and author of An Atlas of Lingual Orthodontics Without Brackets, will lecture on The Management of Edentulous Spaces in Invisible Fixed Therapies Without Brackets. Continuing will be Cesare Luzi from Rome, associate professor at the University of Ferrara and the University Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Rome, Italy with his talk on Prosthetically Guided Orthodontics and Inter-Disciplinary Strategies to Optimize the Final Result. Simona Bussù, from Sardegna, Italy, who has practiced pediatric dentistry and orthodontics for 20 years, will explore The Functional Design of Transparent Aligners: Op-System. The session will end with Bedros Yavru-Sakuk, from the U.S.A., former Clinical Associate at New York University and Valentina Gecha from Russia, president of the International Association of Myofunctional Therapy in Medicine and Dentistry, both lecturing on The Importance of Myofunctional Therapy.
A poster session will be held on Thursday morning with numerous pedodontic and orthodontic participants expected.
English will be the official language of the congress. For those lectures not in English, simultaneous translation into English will be provided.
The AIO is honored to have earned recognition as an international American Dental Association CERP Recognized Provider that provides both ADA members and the international dental community with a mechanism to select quality continuing dental education (CE). The AIO is proud to offer participants of the congress ADA CERP CE credit hours to those making request. Certificates of participation will be available online to all participants following the congress.
