Held in one of the most beautiful settings in the Mediterranean, on the enchanting island paradise of Sardegna, Italy, at the Chia Laguna Hotel and Resort and winner of the 2019 World Leading Beach Family Resort at the World Travel Awards, the congress promises to be bigger and better than ever before!
Centering in on an ever increasing presence and contributing leadership roles of women in dentistry, the congress is committed to live up to its title “Focus on the “Gender Shift in Dentistry: A New Perspective or a Future Challenge?”. The theme, unique in the world panorama of dental meetings, will host top female as well as male speakers from around the world who will take turns at the podium presenting the latest updates in dentistry while participants judge if this new trend could be a new perspective or a future challenge for the profession.
During the congress four hands on courses will be held: Surgery by Marco Ronda, an all day course, open to 40 participants, Esthetic Dentistry with Jordi Manauta and Anna Salat from 9:00 am to 1:30 pm, followed by an afternoon course on Veneers held by Camillo D’arcangelo with Patto Mora, and finally, Endodontics with Filippo Cardinali and Denise Irene Karin Pontoriero that ends in a not to miss Endo Session.
Surgery – Marco Ronda who graduated in 1990 with a degree in medicine from the University of Verona Italy with a private practice in Genoa, Italy will hold an all day course in GBR Surgery and techniques from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. The course will focus on guided bone regeneration (GBR) techniques in the posterior mandible. Participants will design GBR flaps, practice implant insertion in a vertical bone defect, learn how to select the correct membrane size in relation to the type of defect, learn modeling and fixation techniques for resorbable (sausage technique) and non-resorbable membranes, site preparation, biomaterial placement, suture timing and selection.
Esthetic Dentistry – Starting at the same time Jordi Manauta, originally from Mexico with practices in Catalonia, Spain and Italy, along with Anna Salat from Barcelona, Spain will hold their half day course in Esthetic Dentistry. Manauta will begin the course by showing how modify tooth shape and close diastemas. Salat, who holds a degree in dentistry with a masters in Implantology and Esthetic Dentistry from the International University of Catalonia (UIC) in Barcelona, Spain, will teach color pre-visualization and stratification strategies. Both Manauta and Salat are members of the Style Italiano study group. Together they authored the book Layers, (Quintessence 2012) while Salat is also co-author of the book Mulher Dentista.
Veneers – Following, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm., a theoretical and hands on course in Veneers will be held by the Italian Society of Conservative Dentistry-SIDOC with two Italian masters, Camillo D’Arcangelo Director of the Department of Medical, Oral and Biotechnological Sciences of the University of Chieti-Pescara, Italy and Patto Mora a specialist in Oral Rehabilitation and lecturer in courses in esthetic dentistry. The course is aimed at all dentists interested in creating simple, fast and predictable esthetic restorations. that. The course will begin with an update on adhesive techniques that have completely changed clinical approaches and procedures in dentistry, moving on to describe, step by step, no-prep veneers and veneers with minimally invasive preparations. The lecturers will describe the correct use of restorative materials (ceramic, LDS, composite etc.) in different clinical situations as well as the procedures of esthetic evaluation, treatment planning, choice of color, tooth preparation, impression taking and calibrated cementation in clinical cases.
Endodontics – The theoretical and practical course organized by the Italian Society of Endodontics will be held from 3:30 pm to 6:30 pm, and will host two important specialists in their field, Filippo Cardinali, from Ancona,Italy and Denise Irene Karin Pontoriero, with private practices in Brescia and Genoa, Italy. They will teach participants shaping and root canal obturation together with the rationale and suggestions for a winning approach in daily clinical practice. They will show how to maximize the performance of the most up-to-date rotating systems in obtaining a canal shape that respects the original canal anatomy. Also covered will be three-dimensional filling and single cone technique in attaining high quality fillings. You won’t want to miss the Endo Session also organized by the Italian Society of Endodontics held the following day, June 11th.
