SESSIONS FOR DENTAL HYGIENISTS AND DENTAL ASSISTANTS
Everyone is invited to participate in the AIO / Italian Dental Association 11th International Congress “FOCUS ON THE GENDER SHIFT IN DENTISTRY: A NEW PERSPECTIVE OR A FUTURE CHALLENGE?”, held from June 9-11, 2022 in the charming seaside town of Chia Sardegna, in Italy.
Working together as a team in dentistry has become indispensable. With that in mind, it would be unthinkable to hold a meeting without our dental hygienists and dental assistants so we’ve tailored a program in our congress just for them.
Keeping the theme of gender equality at center stage, Saturday morning, June 11th, our dental hygienists and dental assistants will be able to sit in on sessions organized specifically for them held with leaders in their respective national and international associations.
Saturday morning from 9:00 – 12:00 two women and two men will share the podium focusing on communication as a therapeutic instrument.
Annamaria Genovesi past president of the Italian Dental Hygienists Association (AIDI), the Italian Society of Oral Hygiene Sciences (SISIO) and Director of the 1st level of the Masters Program at the Unicamillus University in non-surgical periodontal therapy together with Marzia Segù, Professor in Dental Hygiene Sciences and Techniques in the course for dental hygienists at the Universities of Genoa and Pavia and President of the Italian Society of Dentistry in Sleep Medicine (SIMSO) will be joined by Simone Marconcini, Director of the Masters Program in Implantology at the UniCamillus University and professor at the University of Pisa along with Michele Micheletti, author of the book “Evolution of Public Speaking and Classification of the Effective Speaker “ will discuss how the effectiveness of communication is important in acceptance by the patient and how assertiveness can act on three levels at the same time: emotional, cognitive and behavioral.
From 12.00 to 13.00 Consuelo Sanavia, contract professor in Oral Hygiene Techniques and Sciences and tutor Dental Hygiene program at the University of Genoa will lecture on tele-dentistry in dental hygiene as a result of changes in clinical practice due to the Sars-CoV-2 pandemic.
Maria Gianna Nardi will close the session, Founder and Past President of the AIDI Italian Dental Hygienists Association, National and International Speaker will speak about oral health: personalized prevention protocols.
The importance of effective communication and the correct interpretation of messages will be explored.
Antonio Pelliccia, opinion leader and professor of Economics and Business Organization at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Rome and at the Vita e Salute S. Raffaele University in Milan will discuss communication strategies from 9:15 to 11:15. From 11.45 to 12.30 Natalie Kaweckyj, two-time president of the American Dental Assistants Association will lecture on the ethical dilemmas currently facing the dental assistant. Closing the session from 12:30-1:30 Rossella Abbondanza, National President of the Italian Dental Assistant Association and Elena Tonini, Clinical Affairs Manager at the Zhermack Company, will discuss how prevention starts with knowledge.

Continuing education credit hours will be provided for all those who attend the dental Hygienists sessions including 8 ADA CERP
